The Issaquah High School Eagles had a big win at a non-league basketball home game on Tuesday night, taking down Bothell with a 79–60 score. The Eagles showed strength from the opening tip, holding a narrow 16–15 lead after the first quarter before Bothell responded with an aggressive second quarter of scoring and good defense. At halftime, the Issaquah Eagles were trailing 36–32 and seemed to be losing the momentum from the first quarter of the game.
The Eagles came out of the locker room with good energy and a fast tempo, running everywhere around the court as fast as lightning. Their offense started scoring early in the third quarter, allowing Issaquah to reclaim the lead in the game. By the end of the third quarter, the Eagles were leading, 54–49, and from this point, Issaquah never looked back. A combination of strong defense, amazing ball movement, and confident shooting allowed Issaquah to outscore Bothell by 14 points in the final quarter.
One of the night’s standout performers was guard junior Cade Sunderland, who knocked down multiple tough shots and scored an amazing 11 points. Sunderland’s tight defense and skilled shots helped lead to Issaquah’s second-half surge and set the tone for the last few minutes of the game.
After the game, Sunderland reflected that, “this win absolutely helps the confidence of everyone on the team”.
The victory moves Issaquah’s score up to a 3–2 overall, giving them momentum as they prepare for a challenging road matchup. With confidence high and an offense that is in stride, the Eagles will try to carry Tuesday’s strong mentality and performance into their toughest game of the season on December 12th against the Woodinville Falcons that are currently 5-0.
