Ella Langley is a rising country star who released her debut album, “Hungover”, on Aug. 2, 2024, and 2 years later, “Dandelion”, on Apr. 10, 2026. The album is a mix of heartfelt songs about holding on to youth and appreciating life before it changes. She captures these emotions through some of the album’s more popular songs, including “Choosin’ Texas,” “Be Her,” “Dandelion,” and “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” along with less mainstream tracks like “Butterfly Season.” “Choosin’ Texas” has spent 9 non-consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard top 100. Every song on the album connects with listeners in an authentic country style through emotional storytelling and relatable experiences.
The album is worth listening to because the songs tell stories that people of all ages can connect with. For listeners in their late 20s, songs like “Lovin Life Again” and “Bottom of Your Boots” show Langley trying to hold on to the best years of her life, something that connects to many of her fans. Her ability to combine emotional lyrics with traditional country themes is one reason why the album has connected so strongly with listeners.
Langley has songs with relatable, heartfelt lyrics that are honest and reflect her emotional rollercoaster allowing it to go further than generic country songs. North Carolina’s NPR news source, WFAE, uses multiple soundbites from the album (“Dandelion”) to portray a young woman trying to grasp how she is growing up and leaving her young self and leaving people behind . “Last Call for Us” was one of the most emotional songs, talking about two people who both know this will be the last time together, the lyrics say, “I don’t want to leave, but it’s almost 3, and I think we both know that it’s last call for us.” The way Langley shows how country music has evolved without losing that country feel makes “Dandelion” create a strong connection with the new generation and connects to the older generation of country music.
Overall, I would give this album a 9/10 for its amazing storytelling and strong emotional message. The only thing keeping this album from being stronger is that some songs can be slightly repetitive and the creativity slightly lacks. This causes some of the songs to be underplayed, like “I Gotta Quit” and “Most Good Things Go,” as stated in Country Central review of Langley’s album.
There have been many people who have heard songs by Ella Langley, and opinions have been mixed. One of her fans, a junior at Issaquah High School, Tanish Majumdar stated, “I wouldn’t change anything, the whole album is really catchy.”
The album “Dandelion” connects with a modern audience through strong storytelling and shows honesty about love, growth, and holding on to meaningful moments in life. The album shows how a modern country artist can still connect back to the roots of country music without losing touch with the new generation of listeners.
