Ever since the release of “Star Wars Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith,” many Star Wars fans were longing for an Obi-Wan Kenobi show or movie. Despite a fair few fans disliking the Prequels, I would say the vast majority was ecstatic to hear that Obi-Wan Kenobi would be getting his own limited series. Obi-Wan Kenobidropped exclusively on Disney Plus on May 27.

To the jubilation of many Star Wars fans, Ewan McGregor would be retaking his role as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker. I was very glad that Disney brought these two very talented actors back together. I feel like in this show they really nailed down a lot of the acting, including the young Princess Leia role, in which the actress playing her role did a fantastic job recreating a character that we have never seen so young on screen. My enjoyment of the character had a lot to do with the writing for the character, with the somewhat sassy lines and the adventurous nature she displays throughout the first three episodes. However, I think a lot of my enjoyment of her character was with her acting, with the tone of her voice, and how she delivered the lines. Her acting really made me feel like she was a young Carrie Fisher, really creating a character that I believe Carrie would be proud of. Reva, the third sister, is the main antagonist in the show and, unfortunately, I really do not like her character. Of course, we should not generally like an antagonist, but she is not selling the evil inquisitor to me at this point in the show. I do not think that she is a bad actress whatsoever, but I feel like Reva’s character had poor writing. She also seems pretty annoying, due to the fact that many of the other higher ranked Inquisitors have even said that she is pretty rash. So, this could be an indication that she is supposed to be somewhat annoying initially. We will have to see how her character develops over the course of the show.

So far, I have really enjoyed how Obi-Wan is portrayed as a shell of his old self, and how he has given up the fight against the Empire. I like how his promise to Yoda to protect Luke is being challenged by Leia’s kidnapping, and the conflict within him on if he should continue to protect Luke, or venture off Tatooine and save Leia from danger. I really like how they show Obi-Wan’s haunted mood all the time, whether it be in his expression or nightmares at night. I also enjoyed the first episode because of its further character development of Obi-Wan and the conflicts between Reva and her fellow inquisitors.

I really like the show so far; it really was what I was expecting from a show like this. It really engages the watcher during all of the episodes, and has developed the story very well to this point. The interesting storylines that we have followed so far proves to me that this show has great potential and is definitely worth a watch.
