On Feb. 14, Justin Bieber released an album that was a pure mess. Each song was monotonous and had no distinctions. His lyricsーif you can even call them thatーare more or less the same words over and over. He has no beat, and the entire album sounds like it was made by someone who really does not careーor more accurately, does not know what they are doing. The song has somehow become the number one most listened to album in the U.S., and that alone is enough to make me lose almost all faith in humanity. Unsurprisingly, Bieber put in his hit song, “Yummy,” into the album, attracting many people. Every song in this bland, boring album is unoriginal, repetitive, and poorly sung. The album itself contains 17 songs, but when listened to, there are pretty much only two.

Bieber has just come back after a breakdown on stage in 2015. While he was gone, he got married but also had issues with drugs. He insists that he has sobered up and is a wiser man. However, most of his songs strongly suggest the opposite. His songs often talk about sex, or sexual experiences and it made me feel disgusted to hear, much less read his lyrics. He also collaborated with many artists, who, although they are not much better, managed to show him up every time. They also provide a key thingーa break from Bieber’s terrible voice.

For an album purposely released on Valentine ’s Day, it has little about wholesome love but instead focuses on more inappropriate topics. The album rides on the success of the other singers in the album, along with his own previous hits. It is unfortunate that his music is so bland and tasteless. This album serves as evidence of the opposite of what Bieber claims. He has not become more mature, but exactly the opposite. Bieber is more immature now than ever. His album is a mess, and frankly sounds like an infant wrote it. The lyrics are so repetitive that you could tell the time by them. For his first album back in the game, Bieber has failed spectacularly.
