Right off the bat, I can say that this was not a movie I thought I would like. “Isn’t It Romantic,” released on Feb. 13, 2019, has a premise that differs slightly from other romantic comedies. A girl who does not believe in love gets knocked out as she runs into a pole after almost getting mugged. When she wakes up, she finds herself in a world where all the people she knows are entirely different, almost as if they are stuck in movie role. As she journeys further into the world, she discovers that she is trapped in a romantic comedy.

Overall, I would say this was a good movie to watch. It is one that I would consider watching again, which is unusual for me to say about a romantic comedy. The movie had several aspects that made it enjoyable, but it also had a few elements that held it back from being anything more than a casual way to pass time.

First of all, the movie’s cast was quite talented. Rebel Wilson portrayed her character nicely; she was not too over-the-top with her performance and was able to get the audience to sympathize with her throughout the film. Adam Devine, Priyanka Chopra and Liam Hemsworth did a great job in their supporting roles, and the whole movie was definitely successful due to their contributions. All the actors seemed to have good chemistry with each other, and their interactions seemed believable because of that.

The movie’s plot was very predictable, but despite that, it was still interesting to watch the story unfold. The humor present in the film was properly delivered, for the most part, which is a huge part of what allowed the movie to be enjoyable. The sets and background were well done and aesthetically pleasing to watch, and though most of the music in the movie was not too noticeable, the one musical number that happened was fantastic.

Since this film was meant to make fun of cliches in romantic comedies but was a romantic comedy itself, it did run into a few problems and some could consider it to be hypocritical. However, I personally did not find it too much of an issue and it did not disrupt my viewing experience at all.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who is a fan of romantic comedies, and I would also recommend this movie to be watched by people who typically hate romantic comedies. Who knows, maybe this one will change your mind.
