LoVE me NOw: Most Underrated Album of the Year?

“LoVE me NOw” is artist Tory Lanez’s third studio album, and it does not disappoint. The album contains 15 tracks, nine of which are features, and the rest are solo songs. This album is Lanez’ first since March 2, 2018, when he released his album “Memories Don’t Die.”

“LoVE me NOw” is a much more lighthearted album than “Memories Don’t Die,” in which Lanez was attempting to get over a relationship that went sour. While Lanez’ first three songs are about recovering from heartbreak, in “LoVE me NOw,” the album becomes more upbeat and happy, as one listens on. According to Billboard, Lanez stated that this is “the first time I’ve made brighter music in a long time. It feels like the music is in color, and everyone should be able to experience what is on the canvas.”

Prior to making “LoVE me NOw” Lanez had a brush with death, in which the plane that he was on had their autopilot disconnect, and they plummeted from 39,000 feet to 13,000 feet. “I think we had about 36-37 seconds before impact if we did not catch back,” Lanez recalls in an interview with Billboard. This near death experience got the artist thinking, and he was thinking about all the other musicians he would love to make songs with. Because of this, “LoVE me NOw” has 11 other artists on it, including two “Chris Brown” features, “NAV,” “A Boogie Wit a Hoodie,” and “Trippie Redd.”

The album is very well spaced out and often times alternates between solo Tory Lanez songs and features. The highlights of the album are the features, which involve many other prominent artists. “DucK my Ex” (featuring Chris Brown & 2 Chainz), “FeRRis WhEEL” (featuring Trippie Redd), and “MiAMi” (featuring Gunna) are the best features in the album, with “MiAMi” being the best of the bunch. All of the songs in the album have a unique beat, and differing flows to them, which makes each song a different listen.

While the features might be the bread and butter of the album, Lanez’s solo songs are also very good. “SHE tOLd Me,” “ThE RUn oFF,” and “YoU ThouGHt WrONg,” were the best solo songs on the album. The choruses alone make the songs worth the listen.

Overall this is a very good album. I would give it an eight out of 10. A vast majority of the songs I really like and enjoy listening to, the highlight being “MiAMi” (featuring Gunna). For people who are fans of the newer genre of hip hop and R&B, this is an album I would recommend for you.
