Little Mix released their single “Woman Like Me” on Friday, October 12. The almost four minute long track is the lead single of their upcoming fifth studio album. While the album does not have a definite release date yet, it has been confirmed to drop before the end of November.

This song, being sold as their comeback, follows their single “Only You” which dropped back in June. While the reggae pop bounce of “Woman Like Me” is very different from the EDM bop featuring Cheat Codes, fans of the girls flooded the YouTube comments section with praise. Some commenters even hope for the song to win collaboration of the year at the Grammy awards.

The song written by Jess Glynne and Ed Sheeran hints that women are necessary to the music industry with the mnemonic “I like my coffee with two sugars in it.” Other lines like, “I was born without a zip on my mouth,” prove women are unsilenced in the face of adversity and hardships.

The Music video for “Woman Like Me,” which is a wild psychedelic acid trip that honestly looks like it could be used to brainwash the younger generation, features images and clips of demure women in the fifties and sixties juxtaposed with the strong and powerful women of today who defy stereotypical gender roles.

Little Mix has had a history of empowering music. Songs like “Shout Out to My Ex” and “Salute” have painted women as strong, independent, and significant. “Woman Like Me,” is an upbeat song that breeds anticipation for the rest of the album.
