Shaelyn Erickson, Staff Writer

Shaelyn Erickson is a sophomore student-athlete at Issaquah High School who aspires to become a professional sports photographer to stay around the sports she grew up with her whole life. She
has always challenged herself as a writer to create the best work for readers and holds many academic achievements. Erickson is excited to be a first-year journalist and continue to express
her love for writing in new ways for the student body. Every day she is inspired by her three younger siblings, her parents, and her teammates she spends every day with. Her athletic career
is centered around softball, the sport she loves and aims to continue through college. Additionally, she also has a passion for volleyball. Although this is not her focus, the past five years she spent around the sport helped her to learn many valuable lessons about commitment and priorities. Growing up has taught her to become grateful for all the small things in life that make the day a little better. She is excited to keep with her athletic career and take in everything Issaquah high has to offer. The journalism team is open to any new topics the student body would like to hear more about; please reach out if you want to see your ideas in the Issaquah High Times.
