Roll up your sleeves and grab a shovel for “Keep Issaquah Beautiful” Day! It is an amazing experience that occurs on Nov. 11 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This day is all about cleaning and beautifying Issaquah, and anyone is welcome to participate.
According to EventBrite, “Individuals, families, and groups are all welcome to help with trash pickup, vegetation maintenance, and flower planting. After the cleanup, volunteers can head back to the Historic Shell [station] for live music and pizza.” Keeping Issaquah beautiful is a hard task, but we owe it to our city. There are plenty of jobs to do to help Issaquah become clean and alluring, including weeding, gardening, trash pickup, and plant trimming.
Not only is this day a service but also a celebration. Rain or shine, people come to Downtown Issaquah to serve a place that has served them. “Keep Issaquah Beautiful” Day is a year-long program consisting of three days of environmentally friendly work. The 2023 dates were Apr. 22, Jul. 9, and Nov. 11. All three of these days were Saturday, so the community has the time to participate in this wonderful experience. Besides giving Issaquah a fresh and inviting look, caring for our community also boosts morale and encourages more change to be made. This organization is a small step towards a healthier, cleaner future, but it makes a big impact on Issaquah.
Additionally, Downtown Issaquah states, “In 2022, DIA’s commitment to a clean city saw year-round and seasonal clean ups combine for over 600 volunteers who logged over 1,800 hours to help beautify their city.” Committing just a few hours to assisting our planet can really add up.
Furthermore, the mental health benefits of caring for our planet cannot be overstated. According to Ecozoi, “Going green is more than just a trendy way to let people know you care about the environment; it’s a lifestyle change that improves every facet of your life. Living sustainably helps you to relieve stress, anxiety, and depression, enjoy stronger friendships, and get more enjoyment out of each moment of your life.” So, please remember to participate in planet-saving activities like these!
