The new rap album, “Faith Is A Rock,” released on Sept. 22 as a collaboration piece, produced by the Alchemist, MIKE, and Wiki. I would recommend giving this album a listen as it talks about very deep topics about society and is very easy to listen to. The Alchemist is known for his dreary like beats with unique samples that set him apart from other producers. His style of beats is extremely prevalent in this album which makes each song feel unique. Paired with the vocals of rappers MIKE and Wiki, who are known for their story telling and slow flow with great rhythm makes a great album. The 10 songs make a 31-minute-long album with rich beats and intricate rapping.
The Alchemist truly ties this album together with his unique style of beats which helps create a feeling of existential worry. This paired with the slow tempo and splashes of dialogue makes the listener feel like the music is just a couple friends deep into a conversation about the state that New York is in like in the song “Mayors A Cop,” where Wiki raps, “With this amount of human laws, could’ve been for schools or parks, Coats in the winter and the summer, something to cool’em off.” This talks about how there is more focus on creating new restrictions than taking care of the citizens of New York who are in need of better education and infrastructure. The deep and intricate topics that the album visits do not need to be understood to listen to it. This is due to the amazing skill that The Alchemist has when producing beats, the beats he makes are so good that they can be listened to by themselves, this makes the songs on the album easy to listen to without having to understand the lyrics.
I highly recommend “Faith Is A Rock” if you enjoy listening to controversial topics that invoke deep thought about society, or if you just enjoy casually listening to rap music itself.
