Stupid Love? More like Unsatisfying Love

Lady Gaga released a new single on Feb. 28 in an effort to kickstart the new era she dubbed “Chromatica,” and is also the name of the upcoming album. Unfortunately, the new single is a rather underwhelming start, and did not give me much hope for the album. Stupid Love is a fast paced dance oriented beat, but like many of the other less popular Lady Gaga songs, it feels like there was more effort put into the music video than the music itself. A lot of time was spent in the video creating a storyline via voice overs and groups of various people dressed in different colors fighting each other than the actual song, but that does not mean it was all bad. The music harkens back to an older Gaga, and is a nice change after the more slow and emotional Joann album. However, the song was not catchy or memorable, and feels more like something that would play at a club while its closing than a new era of music for the mother monster. I would give it a 6/10 rating, but I still do look forward to the album as a fan of both Lady Gaga and electronic pop music.
