Wiliam Barr Thrust Back Into the Limelight
October 3, 2019
President Donald Trump never directly asked Attorney General William Barr to launch any type of investigation into Joe Biden. According to a White House spokeswoman said Wednesday, clarifying that Barr’s denial of involvement extended beyond the Ukraine scandal. However, the revelation that Trump pressed Ukraine’s president to work with Barr to probe Biden is putting new pressure on the attorney general and the justice department, both of which have, according to Politico, “suffered under Trump.” “The President dragged the attorney general into this mess. At a minimum, Barr must recuse himself until we get to the bottom of this matter,” House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said on Twitter. Still, the scandal marks the latest example of Barr sparking questions of whether he is prioritizing President Trump’s interests over those of the Justice Department, further inflicting the so called ‘damage.’ Now, Barr’s central role in Trump’s Ukraine mess is reviving concerns about whether he is independent enough from the president. But the scandal deepens! Recently, in the light of all the impeachment action, it seems that more and more people in the Trump administration are being caught up and carried along into the coming storm. As the staff of the White House face the possibility of the coming impeachment, unease is everywhere. However, this very same unease is felt by the American people as their government changes, and more and more information comes to light.
