Big Mouth Season Two Is Crudely Hilarious
October 16, 2018
Netflix released season two of their television series “Big Mouth” on Friday, Oct. 5. This series is crude and should not be watched by someone who is more sensitive to inappropriate subjects. However, those who are not easily offended will find the show amusing and humorous.
For those who haven’t seen the first season, the show is about a few young teenagers who are going through the start of puberty. They struggle with emotional conflicts and social issues as their body goes through changes.
The character Shame is introduced in this season. He adds to the number of creatures that only individuals can see. He has a different involvement in the lives of the students and I think this is a creative way to show how the emotion shame affects everyone and it changes the way we act because we are afraid of how others see it.
Nick, voiced by Nick Kroll, goes through a rough time in the start of puberty, with the change of who his puberty monster is. Nick’s change in hormonal influence was good because his initial puberty monster was boring and made it difficult to watch. Jessi’s struggle to deal with her parent’s separation is not as comedic as other parts in the season. However it is still entertaining to see how she perceives the actions of her parents.
Coach Steve has a larger role in this season and his erratic behavior is wincing but it is still hilarious because of how uncomfortable it is to watch him go through changes. His late blooming allows him to build a relationship with Jay, which is primarily funny because of how inappropriate their relationship is between teacher and student.
Overall Season Two was a great watch and had moments that were cringe worthy but still hilarious, for those who are less sensitive.
