On Thursday night, The Issaquah Girls’ Varsity Soccer Team played Redmond in their last home match of the regular season. The game unfortunately ended 0-0 which, according to senior captain and starting center back Katie Sanders, “was not the result we were hoping for.” Issaquah was unlucky not to put one passed the Redmond goalkeeper, but the Issaquah defense was strong throughout the entire game and they ended up keeping the clean sheet.

There were many festivities before the game for the senior girls because it was senior night. Sophomore Michelle Kane says, “It was so fun to see all the seniors play and celebrate their high school soccer careers.” The starting lineup was full of seniors and the crowd was full of their family members and friends.

Even though they took an unfortunate tie, the varsity soccer squad will be going to playoffs. Head coach Kyle Tatro says, “I’m really excited for the postseason. We have a really good shot at the state championship again this year.” Although following up last years season will be difficult, there is much belief in the girls’ varsity team.
